The Story

SmartSol BAC 0 100L thermal flywheel for heat pump

 

The SmartSol Bac 0 100L thermal flywheel serves to guarantee the minimum content of technical water in the system for the correct functioning of the heat pump; it is a tank to be installed in series between the heat pump and the heating/cooling distribution system and has now become indispensable within a heat pump thermal system as it performs the dual function of inertial storage and hydraulic separator.

As a hot/cold inertial storage it optimizes the performance and longevity of the heat pump, significantly impacting the reduction of the machine's on/off cycles. In order to improve the performance, yield and duration of the heat pump it is therefore important to limit the on/off cycles to a minimum: without the inertial tank (and therefore with the heat pump working directly on the distribution system) this it would not be possible, as the machine would work in relation to continuous variations in thermal demand. By providing a thermal flywheel, however, the machine is allowed to work for adequately long time intervals so that the number of on and off cycles is more appropriate, also managing to temporarily meet the thermal energy demands of the distribution system during inactivity of the pump.

As a hydraulic separator, the thermal flywheel makes the flow rates of the heat pump independent of those of the heating/refrigeration terminals. Also in this case the yield and performance of the heat pump are maximized as it operates only according to the real needs and requests of the system circuits.

The SmartSol Bac 0 100L thermal flywheel is made of 2 mm hot-rolled steel with an external coating of 0.5 mm galvanized steel. Insulated with polyurethane foam with high insulating capabilities, the tank has an external diameter of Ø 500 mm and an internal diameter of Ø 400 mm. The version   presented here has a storage capacity of 52 litres. External installation on base.
